My name is Jaime, and I am an owner, breeder, and life long raiser of all things four legged and furry! I have raised cavies since I was five years old with my original pair, Sugar and Spice. Many cavies have come and gone since then, but my passion for raising furry potatoes continues to burn bright!
Copper Clover Caviary was started in 2017 with a focus on Americans and American Satins in Black, Red and Roan. While the breeds and varieties we raise has grown and changed over the years, Copper Clover is dedicated to breeding and raising healthy, high quality show and breeding stock. Winning many Best in Show, Reserve in Show, Best of Breed and other awards with our homegrown stock we strive to exhibit the best cavies and grow the hobby for present and future generations. Our current focus in our caviary is with Americans and American Satins in black, red, blue, orange, roans, golden solids, silver solids, and tan pattern; Teddies in black, chocolate, red, golden solid, and tan pattern; and Silkies and Coronets in black and roan. We actively show our cavies in Arizona and nationally at the ACBA Specialty and ARBA Convention shows.
I breed to show and improve our stock to meet the ARBA/ACBA Standard of Perfection. With my program, I look for the longevity of the animal - to be able to mature and do well on the show table, go into breeding, and retain the ability to bounce back and go back to showing occasionally and eventually retire as a beloved pet. We believe in producing cavies with a solid body conformation first and foremost, and improving the high quality depth of color and markings to showcase those strong features of solid shoulders, even hindquarters, with a balanced body. Our goal is to produce cavies with a wide bold head, well rounded nose, balanced and shapely ears, and large eyes. In addition to being healthy and show quality, we strive to produce cavies that are also friendly, calm, and easily handled. From day one, our cavies are handled and given the best care to grow into well rounded and full-figured furry potatoes. We pride ourselves on the overall health and condition of our animals, and hope to help you find and enjoy your new, adorable companion!
I am hands-on helping others to find their inspiration, encouraging growth and mastery at all levels of the cavy hobby to promote friendly and spirited competition. As a 4-H leader, I work with youth to get started with cavies, finding the breeds and varieties they can be passionate about. I help them to understand there is a lot of hard work, dedication, and expense that comes with breeding, improving generations of stock, and getting to reap those benefits on the show table. As a breeder, I strive to find and develop new comers to the hobby that will be part of the community for a lifetime. I believe in giving back by supporting our local and national breed clubs and organizations - volunteering time to help with setup and assisting with clerking at show tables, running youth contests and volunteering to judge applications as well as donating items for the prize drawing tables. I strive to educate all types of guinea pig owners to make informed decisions about the care and upkeep of their furry companions.
